From time to time we have all experienced Ants in our home at some point.
But what can you do to keep these pesky little Ants out and away from your home.
Ants can come to even the cleanest homes.
When Ants go foraging for food they leave pheromones for other Ants to follow, so if they leave pheromones for other Ants to come and also dine on the goodies that are laying in your home is there any natural ways that you can get rid of the Ants yourself?
The answer is yes you can help reduce the intake of Ants which are setting up home in your humble abode.
• Mix 1 part baking soda and 1 part icing sugar together and place in shallow lids or saucers. While the icing sugar will bring the ants to one place the baking soda will kill the ants. • Citrus spray. When you peel a lemon, orange or other citrus keep the skin and put in a pot with 3 cups of water and 2 cup of vinegar and keep it on a low setting for around half an hour. Let the mixture set over night and pour into a spray bottle for the next time those pesky Ants decide that your kitchen is the place to be. • Essential oils are great if you find the right one that works. Tea tree oil, peppermint oil and citrus oil works a treat. Rub the skirting boards near windows and door frames, the side of counters and benchtops. Not only does this make your home smell gorgeous it will also deter Ants away. • Vinegar spray is also a great way to get rid of ants, all you need is a cloth vinegar and water. 1 part water to 1 part white vinegar in a spray bottle and spray away and wipe the surface not only will it get rid of your Ants but you are also cleaning naturally. • Chalk and flour, draw or sprinkle lines around entry points in and around your home as Ants will not cross the line, for the chalk there is a component called calcium carbonate which is seashells grounded up and will repel not only Ants but other pest like slugs and snails. • Honey, dishwashing liquid and water. Grab a saucer or a shallow lid place a small amount of honey in the middle and add soapy water around the honey.

There are so many different species of ants and when they decide that your kitchen is their new home what are you going to do.
Ants are robust and programmed to source out food to bring back to their nest so they can feed the queen ant.
Unfortunately ants don’t discriminate and will go to homes that are clean.
Whether you have ants that are scattered or in straight lines here are some natural ways to get rid of ants?
Herbs such as mint, basil, thyme, lavender and rosemary are a natural deterrent as ants cannot stand the smell. Place the bouquet of herbs around doors and window frames.
Place cucumbers directly in the ant’s path as it will deter ants out of the kitchen.
Ants love eating cornmeal but unfortunately once they consume the cornmeal they will not be able to digest it and will eventually end up exploding.
Cayenne pepper, salt, cinnamon, baby powder, chilli powder and coffee grounds make great deterrents. All you need to do is place one of the above in lines and the ants will not be able to cross the lines.
Dilute 3 parts of vinegar and 2 parts of water in a spray bottle and start spraying those pesky little buggers.
Check and cracks and crevices and seal them up so there is no entry point that the ants can get through.
Break up little pieces of soap and mix it with water, place around entry points. There is a component that is in the soap that poisons the ants.
Make sure that you wipe all surfaces and mop all floors.
With spring comes nice warm weather and with that so does pest of all sizes whether it be your cockroaches right down to your wasps.
So what is involved in a residential pest control Sydney?
There is many different treatments to suit every client’s needs. Each home is different whether it would be the size of the house or experiencing different pest invading your premises.
German Cockroach Treatment:
With a German cockroach treatment the technician will firstly inspect your premises to see the threshold of German cockroaches which are in your premises. The technician will then do a skirting board spray and place gel in appropriate places such as cupboard door hinges, microwave, fridges/freezers, washing machines and other electrical appliances.
For German cockroach treatments a Redline Pest Control customer service agent will ask you what rooms you are seeing the German cockroaches in and how many you are roughly seeing each day. The customer service agent will then determine the level of infestation by your answers and will recommend which treatment is suited to your needs.
With an ant treatments we once again will ask if you are seeing ants inside, outside or both and where exactly are you seeing the ants.
For internal areas the technician will inspect and identify problematic areas where the issue of ants are. The technician will set up an ant baiting system using gel and will doing a window and skirting board spray, if you have ants along the wall he will also spray the affected walls.
For external areas the technician will also inspect and identify problematic areas where the issue of ants are. The perimeter of your premises will be sprayed alongside with any ant mounds and trails.
If you have an issue both internal and external both treatments will apply.
With rodent treatments we will ask you where you are experiencing the issue whether it will be internal, external or both. We will also ask you what times are you hearing the noise if you are hearing noises in roof void as this very well could be a possum. Rodents love their run paths and will often dart from place to place in a blink of an eye.
Bait will be placed in roof void if you are hearing noises, bait will be placed in cardboard bait stations and will be placed strategically behind furniture, fridges, washing machines, dryers and any other places that rodents will frequent.
When we bait outside for rodents we always try to look for places that the bait in cardboard bait stations can be strategically placed. If there is no place that the bait can be placed we will advise you that you will need to purchase lockable bait stations which is yours to keep and the best thing is they are reusable and all you need to do if you have a rodent issue again is to replenish the lockable bait station.

When is a good time to have pest control on my home and how often should I get pest control?
Redline Pest Control does pest control all year round, we usually say to our customers to have a general pest treatment once a year. Sometimes depending on your location you may need pest control every 6 months or so. A lot of our customers do get pest control done around spring time once it starts to warm up.

Redline Pest Control recommends that every home should have a Termite Inspection done every 12 months and every 6 months if you live in an area which has a lot of trees and bushes.
How long does a Termite Inspection take?
Every home is different and therefore the time will vary from home to home but we do ask our customers to leave around a 2 hour period for us to perform the Termite Inspection. Larger homes can take up to 3 to 4 hours depending on size.
Do I get a report for my Termite Inspection?
Yes, each property that has a Termite Inspection receives a comprehensive report which is either handed on the day or emailed over to you within 48 hours of having the Termite Inspection done.
I have had a Rodent Treatment, will I see dead rats or mice in my home?
It is really hard to say as each treatment is different. Around 9 out of 10 rodents do die outside as they go searching for a water source as the bait we use has a thinning agent in it causing the rodents to become dehydrated. There is that 1% that a rodent does die inside, this is due to your home having a water source. If the rodents do die the bait we use coagulates their blood and you may smell an odour for around 24 to 48 hours.
Will the bait used for Rodent Treatments affect my kids or pets?
No, we strategically place baits where children and pets cannot get to. For any rodent treatments which are outside or in certain parts of your home where bait needs to be applied we have lockable bait stations which children and pets cannot get into.
What if it rains the day of my treatment?
If it is raining the day of your treatment you will receive a call from one of our customer service representatives to advise you that we need to reschedule your appointment. If you are having a rodent treatment or German cockroach treatment only the service will still go ahead. If it rains an hour after we have done the treatment we will organise a time to come out and re spray the external areas of your home. Anything over an hour you need not worry as the chemical has already set it.
