Pest Control Sydney –  Do you spray in the rain?

No!

Why?

Unfortunately here at Redline Pest Control we don’t spray in wet weather or break treatments up in wet weather as we don’t want your treatment to be washed away with the rain.

Whether it is light rain or heavy rain your appointment will be rescheduled if you have external areas included in your package.

Why do we reschedule the whole appointment when it rains?

We have proven methods that work and by splitting up a treatment you are not getting a full barrier against pests from entering your home.

We have tested and tried splitting treatments up when it rains and we simply don’t find that we get the best results for any treatment that has been split up.

Will you reschedule if it looks like it is going to rain?

At the end of each day and beginning of each day we check and monitor the weather in your local area and will determine if a treatment needs to be reschedule, if it is only cloudy we will still come out and perform the treatment.

What if it rains after my appointment?

If it rains within 4 hours after your appointment we will come back out to your premises and respray at no charge to you as we can’t help how the weather pans out. A note will be put in your client file that it had rained that day and that if any issues arises with pests that we will also come back out at no charge to you.

If it rains the night prior to your booking your service may be rescheduled as the ground may still be wet at the time of your booking. If the ground is wet the chemical will not bind and therefore will be ineffective and a waste of your precious hard earned money.

So can any treatments get done if it rains?

The following premises can be sprayed for pest control:

Commercial premises – as long as there are no external areas.

Units – as long as there are no external areas.

Houses – as long as there are no external areas.

German cockroaches, internal fleas, rodents, bedbugs, lice/mites.

Dead carcasses and the blow fly!

pest pic

Monday I had a frantic call from a concerned client saying there was an unusual amount of blow flies swarming in her home and she didn’t know where they were coming from.

I asked her the usual questions like can she smell something decaying, was there any meat left out, does she have pets as maybe it is the food that they might not of eaten, to check to see if there was any animals on her property that may of passed. Nothing I asked was occurring so I asked one of our technicians to do an emergency job to investigate why this customer has blow flies in her home.

John arrived at the client’s home in Parramatta and searched the lawns, subfloor, and interior and made his way up to the roof void where he instantly smelled a decaying matter. Upon further investigations of the roof void he had found dead rodents in the roof void.

John removed two dead rodents but was unable to get the third rodent as it had slipped into the wall cavity. John advised the customer that he was putting the odour eliminating bag in the roof void and that it will suck up any bad smells that was in the roof void.

Our client had used a different pest controller to do a rodent treatment and when she had tried to call that pest controller he no longer had his phone in service.

Usually when pest controllers bait for rodents they will use bait that has a thinning agent in it so it coagulates the blood stopping it from releasing a bad smell.

Unfortunately for our client the bait that was used was a stock standard bait that you could get from the local hardware house which doesn’t have this thinning agent in it.

Needless to say our client was so happy that the blow flies have since disappeared and that we have found the source of the issue.

Yep it is that time of the year again, Spring has just arrived and with the abundance warm weather and flowers sprouting it sure is bringing bees and other pest out of hiding.

So what does this mean?

As the cooler months turn into warmer month’s pest come out of hibernation to feed and breed setting up a nice little home in your humble abode.

So we all know that pest are seasonal and with the cooler months it will bring pest like rodents and spiders in doors but was does the warmer months bring to your home? Cockroaches! Eww did someone say cockroaches? Yep I sure did say that nasty word cockroaches.

So why is it important to get rid of these pest?

Cockroaches, Rodents and Flies can cause contamination by urinating and pooping over utensils, bench tops, containers and food which has been left out.  Unfortunately these pests carry a lot of harmful bacteria such as streptococcus virus, Staphylococcus Salmonella and streptococcus virus. Would you put your family’s health or life on the line? I know that I certainly wouldn’t put my family’s life on the line.

Bees and wasps may be great from an ecological point of view but what dangers can they bring when they have set up their hives in or around your home. For most of a simple bee or wasps sting will only cause small irritation but for others this could very will send them to the emergency department or even worse cause death.

Now is the time to prune those trees and bushy areas, clean up around the kiddies play equipment and keep the lawns cut short.

Why do we always advise customers to keep their lawns short and their yards neat and tidy?

Redline Pest Control believes that in order to reduce pest thresholds it is vital to know what is going on in and around your premises. Say for instance that you have long grass, snakes and ground dwelling spiders will be in all their glory as it is the perfect breeding ground for them to breed and feed without being detected. Pest which are easily undetected cause can serious harm to you or your loved ones.

Don’t delay call today to have those nasty pesky little pest eradicated from your humble abode.

What does your commercial food business say about you?

Whether you are a take away shop, restaurant or café food hygiene is vital for any business owner who is in the food industry as without customers you wouldn’t be in business today.

Do you have regular pest control on your business?

Have you seen pest like rats, cockroaches, ants or birds in your business?

What can you do to avoid a pest outbreak in your business?

Could your business survive if you were to have pest outbreak or being fined and put on the name and shame website?

In today’s society it is easy for potential customers to search if a business has been placed on the Food Authority’s Name and Shame registry therefore potentially losing you customers for a mistake that you could have avoided.

Pest control is so vital in the food industry and anyone who owns a business has the duty of care to make sure that food hygiene and a pest free environment is in place at their business.

What are some steps you can do to make sure that your business is pest free?

  • Install flyscreens to windows and doors
  • Seal any gaps, holes and cracks and crevices in your building
  • Have an plan of action once your business closes for the day
  • Designate an employee to make sure that other employees pulling their weight when it comes to cleaning and keeping food safe at the end of each day
  • have regular training available for all of your employees so they are aware of the dos and don’ts when it comes to hygiene and pest management
  • Keep food in air tight containers and do not store food on the floor
  • Keep your garbage area neatly and always take the rubbish out at the end of each day
  • Have regular mini inspections, go around the premises and see if you can see any areas which are affected by pest or have pest droppings.
  • Being on a regular pest maintenance program with a pest control company who is licensed

When cleaning your business be sure to make sure that you get all fats and oils from those hard to reach places and that all bench tops, counters, floors etc are cleaned with the correct cleaning agent. For cups, plates and utensils make sure that they are sterilised in hot water and the correct detergent is placed in the dishwasher.

It is very easy for an outbreak of pest to occur without you realising. Say for instance German cockroaches you see them at night time and depending of the infestation you could very well see them in the day as they are spilling from their harbourage spots. For every female German cockroach you have they have the potential to breed hundreds before you even realise that you have an issue. Female German cockroaches breed every 5 to 6 weeks and once their egg capsule hatches between 40 to 50 baby cockroaches will be running around. Their lifecycle can be hard to eradicate if the outbreak is quite high. Usually you will need to be put on a maintenance program by having an initial service then a follow up service 6 weeks later then depending on the conditions of your business you have services every 6 weeks to 3 months to maintain a pest free environment.
