Spiders are in every household whether we like it or not, some will be seen and some will lurk around your yard unnoticed.
With most people spiders are spiders and they all look the same but in the pest control industry we have two categories for spiders which are webbing spiders and ground dwelling spiders.
Webbing spiders and how do we get rid of them.
Webbing spiders it is best to contact a professional pest control company, most pest control companies webbing spiders are included in their general pest treatments. Your pest technician will go around your property are spray all webbing spiders; webbing spiders will have a one-month warranty period.
Ground dwelling spider treatments can be carried out in two way depending on where you see the ground dwelling spiders.
If you see them internally than you will need a fogging done in your home and you won’t be able to return home until after four hours. If the ground dwelling spiders are only external than you will only need an external treatment, we spot treat any holes in your garden bedding and grass areas and then do a blanket spray of those areas, unfortunately with ground dwelling spider treatments there are no warranty periods.
IPM is also known as Integrated Pest Management and any good pest controller will implement this technique in every job that he carries out.
So what is it and how does it work?
It all starts with a call that you make to us here at Redline Pest Control, your customer service agent will ask you a few questions and then will listen to your pest concerns and advise you of the appropriate pest treatment. When the technician arrives at your home the technician will inspect, identify and treat the pest which is in your home. The technician will also advise you on tips on how you can prevent pest from entering your home.
What are the basic rules when it comes to Integrated Pest Management?
Any pest company that has good values and care about the needs of their client will use IPM which consist of 5 basic rules which are:
Inspection – Each technician from Redline Pest Control will go around your premises and inspect all areas even those areas which have no issues with pests.
Identification – Redline Pest Control will identify any pest which they have found around your premises.
Threshold of pest – Redline Pest Control technicians will determine the threshold level of pests which are residing in your premises.

What can you do once pest control has been carried out on your premises?
We have the big 4 things you can do in and around your home to help prevent pests from residing in your home.
Eliminate Entry Points:
Pests don’t need an invite to set up their home in your premises. Go around your premises and find any cracks and crevices and seal them up with some sealant. Fix any broken windows, tiles on your roof, flyscreens and any other items on your premises. If your home is an older home fix any repairs on the foundations.
Set a day of the week where you have your big clean up where you are dusting, vacuuming, sweeping and mopping. You wouldn’t believe it but pest actually love dust, food scraps and other particles that they can find. Remove any clutter that is in your home as this gives the pests a place to hide themselves away and start breeding.
Always do mini makeovers in your yard by mowing on a regular basis, pruning trees and bushes. Remove any dead branches and logs.
Eliminate Water And Food Sources:
After preparing food in your kitchen always tidy up and wipe away crumbs and spilt liquids. Put your pet bowl away once they have finished eating and at the end of the night tip their water out and turn upside down. By eliminating water and food source the pest have no reason to set up home in your premises.
What should you look for when hiring a pest control company?
When it comes to looking for a pest company or any tradesman to come to your home it is vital to always do your research on that company before coming out to your home.
Now I know I might be a little anal but do we really know who is coming through our doors, trusting them to provide the correct service or let alone our trusted valuables?
Unfortunately the pest control industry isn’t regulated and there are many cowboys that makes it hard for those companies who have set the industry standards high.
When researching a pest control company what should you look for?
When I use a tradesman I google that company, searching for reviews across the web seeing if they have positive or negative reviews. When reading reviews this helps me determine if the company in question is reputable and will provide the service that is right for me.
Go through their website and get a feel for what the company stands for by reading their mission, vision and values statement and any other information that they may have on their website. Do they have a section on their website that has the list of chemicals that they use? This will usually be under the MSDS section of their website.
What should you ask the person that you intend to hire?
So you have done your research now it is time for the phone call to see if their services are the right services for you.
What sort of questions should you ask the customer service agent?
Are you fully insured if something should go wrong?
What is your warranty period?
Do you hold the relevant qualifications for safe handling of chemicals?
Does your pest technician do refresher courses so they keep up to date with not only pest bio but safe handling of chemicals?
Are you a registered business?
How long does a treatment last?
How long will it take to spray my home?
Do you implement the integrated pest management system?
Is your chemicals safe for my family, pets and the environment?
What is the payment method?
What sets you apart from other pest companies? (I like to ask this question to hear what tradesman have to say)
What is involved in the treatment?
What pest are included in my treatment?
Will the chemical kill my vegetable garden or plants?
What do I need to do to prepare for pest control?
How often should I get pest control/termite inspections done on my home?
When will I start seeing results from my service?
What is the difference in a common cockroach and a German cockroach?
What is the difference of webbing spiders and ground dwelling spiders?
What if it rains on the day of the treatment?
When calling the pest control company that you have chosen your customer service agent should ask you questions regarding the pest in your home. The customer service agent should listen without interrupting you and identify pest over the phone such a bio of that pest and how an infestation can get out of control. Recommend a treatment plan that is right for your premises.
If you are just getting quotes for pest treatments ask them to send you via email the quote so you can compare what pest service you are getting and what is involved in the pest service.
Sometimes going with the cheaper pest company can end up costing you more in the long run so make sure that you really do your research on the company you choose.

Dragonflies are an insect which belongs to the family of Odonata suborder Anisoptera. Dragonflies have elongated bodies with two very strong transparent wings with multifaceted eyes. Dragonflies can range in all sorts of colours.
Dragonflies are not dangerous at all even though they eat the prey they catch.
Dragonflies a voracious eaters and will continue eating if there is a flow in food.
If you mishandle dragonflies they can turn around and leave a nasty bite but the bite will not inject any poison which is harmful to humans.
Dragonflies have impeccable sight just like flies do. Dragonflies have multifaceted eyes with over 30,000 individual facets and each facets creates their own image which is very fascinating if you really think about it.
Unlike most other insects dragonflies do not court their mates. The male dragonfly will forcefully mate with the female dragonfly and even though the male has male anatomy he doesn’t actually use that instead injecting his semen via his segment at the end of his body.
Last week I was outside playing with our dog and kids when I noticed these really big holes in my lawn. Naturally I was curious to know what made these holes. Upon closer inspection I found out that the holes actually had wolf spiders in them. Yelling out to the kids to take the dog and themselves inside while I frantically called one of our technicians to come out and treat our lawns for wolf spiders.
So what is a wolf spider and where do they live?
Wolf spiders are a ground dwelling spider and will make burrows in your lawn or garden bedding. Wolf spiders are also known as wanders and will often go wandering throughout the night in search of a mating partner or a new home. Although wolf spiders are not poisonous as such it can lead to a nasty bite. If you are allergic to their venom it is highly recommended that you seek medical attention straight away.
Wolf Spider found in Sydney
What is involved in a wolf spider treatment?
Firstly the Redline Pest Control technician that comes out to your home will inspect all areas both at the front and the back checking for any holes that may be on your lawns or garden bedding, the will check all areas that are very leafy and if you have wood debris on your property. As the technician is inspecting what he has found he will then spot treat those holes as he moves onto the next hole. Once the technician has spot treated the affected areas he will then blanket spray the lawns for any holes that may have been missed or for wolf spiders that may have escaped the spot treating.
As wolf spiders are a ground dwelling spider it is difficult to eradicate as your neighbours could possibly have these spiders on their lawns and could potentially reinfest your lawns if they don’t treat their lawns.
With the current weather becomes increasingly hot out comes those annoying pest that we all loathe.
I usually get pest control done at the end of spring closer to weather but I had found that over the past few days I had a large increase of large cockroaches and bees swarming around my house.
Anyone that knows me knows that I generally don’t have an issue with pest except pest that can contaminate my food and could potentially sting me.
Spiders don’t really bother me as much as I find spiders so fascinating with the way they spin their webs and the amazing patterned colours that each spider has.
Like any other customer that Redline Pest Control services I had to make sure that I had done the following things in preparation for the pest technician so he could commence the pest treatment.
Weekly cleaning done
No clothes on the clothesline
Food in airtight containers
Grass cut short
My pet looked after for about an hour or so or until the chemical has dried
Moved furniture away from the wall

With spring comes nice warm weather and with that so does pest of all sizes whether it be your cockroaches right down to your wasps.
So what is involved in a residential pest control Sydney?
There is many different treatments to suit every client’s needs. Each home is different whether it would be the size of the house or experiencing different pest invading your premises.
German Cockroach Treatment:
With a German cockroach treatment the technician will firstly inspect your premises to see the threshold of German cockroaches which are in your premises. The technician will then do a skirting board spray and place gel in appropriate places such as cupboard door hinges, microwave, fridges/freezers, washing machines and other electrical appliances.
For German cockroach treatments a Redline Pest Control customer service agent will ask you what rooms you are seeing the German cockroaches in and how many you are roughly seeing each day. The customer service agent will then determine the level of infestation by your answers and will recommend which treatment is suited to your needs.
With an ant treatments we once again will ask if you are seeing ants inside, outside or both and where exactly are you seeing the ants.
For internal areas the technician will inspect and identify problematic areas where the issue of ants are. The technician will set up an ant baiting system using gel and will doing a window and skirting board spray, if you have ants along the wall he will also spray the affected walls.
For external areas the technician will also inspect and identify problematic areas where the issue of ants are. The perimeter of your premises will be sprayed alongside with any ant mounds and trails.
If you have an issue both internal and external both treatments will apply.
With rodent treatments we will ask you where you are experiencing the issue whether it will be internal, external or both. We will also ask you what times are you hearing the noise if you are hearing noises in roof void as this very well could be a possum. Rodents love their run paths and will often dart from place to place in a blink of an eye.
Bait will be placed in roof void if you are hearing noises, bait will be placed in cardboard bait stations and will be placed strategically behind furniture, fridges, washing machines, dryers and any other places that rodents will frequent.
When we bait outside for rodents we always try to look for places that the bait in cardboard bait stations can be strategically placed. If there is no place that the bait can be placed we will advise you that you will need to purchase lockable bait stations which is yours to keep and the best thing is they are reusable and all you need to do if you have a rodent issue again is to replenish the lockable bait station.
General Pest Treatment:
A general pest treatment is recommend to home owners roughly every 12 months to avoid infestations to the pest listed below.
